We’re pleased to announce that our firm is one of the Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms in the U.S.
Construction Executive – the official publication of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) – reached out to hundreds of firms across the nation to collect data and create this inaugural ranking. We are No. 45 on the list of Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms for 2019.
Tom Rosenbach, managing partner at Beene Garter, said about receiving the award,
“This recognition is proof of the hard work, time, and resources we’ve dedicated to developing and sustaining our expertise in the construction industry. We’re humbled by the award.

Construction Executive used an algorithm that weighed seven factors:
- 2018 revenues from firms’ construction practices
- Number of certified public accountants (CPAs) in their construction practices
- Percentage of firms’ total revenues from their construction practices
- Number of construction clients in 2018
- Number of office locations with a construction practice
- Number of employees with CCIFP certification
- Year in which the construction accounting practice was established
Our stats
Beene Garter can practice in 52 states, including Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. Our sole office location is in Grand Rapids, which housed about 79 employees in 2018. Only seven other firms on the list had fewer than 100 employees in 2018.
Tom Rosenbach, Ann Plummer, and Eric Smith are the three partners that lead our construction practice, which includes 10 CPAs.
We also have one team member who has the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation. She earned this designation by providing more than 4,000 hours of professional experience in construction and displayed expertise in eight domains, only three of which are accounting-related.
We proudly serve 90 construction businesses in West Michigan and the surrounding communities. We look forward to continuing to serve the construction industry, helping them with their unique business needs, and growing our practice.
