We’re pleased to announce Beene Garter’s own Sarah Pattison (Vlasblom), CPA, CCIFP, is one of two Michigan-based construction financial professionals chosen for the Construction Financial Management Association’s (CFMA) 40 Under 40 program.
On April 9, 2021, CFMA announced the 40 award recipients for its new program, and Pattison was chosen as an honoree out of more than 115 submissions. Pattison received two nominations. One from Ann Plummer, the lead partner of Beene Garter’s construction practice, and one from the president of CFMA’s Western Michigan chapter.
Pattison is the director of audit operations at Beene Garter and has more than 11 years of public accounting experience. She is a licensed CPA and earned the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) credential through CFMA in 2017. She’s been a member of both CFMA and the Grand Rapids chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) for six and a half years.“Sarah is a leader who goes above and beyond every day for her colleagues, our clients, and other construction industry professionals,” said Ann Plummer. “Most recently, she has co-led our firm’s Paycheck Protection Program services, dedicating her time to helping local businesses understand the continuous program changes and obtain forgiveness. She’s made a significant impact on the sustainability of these companies during difficult times.”
Pattison’s involvement with CFMA Western Michigan includes serving in leadership positions. She has been the membership committee chair since 2019 and is joining the board of directors for a four-year term in 2021. Pattison earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance and Master of Science degree in accounting from Grand Valley State University.
“I’m honored to be included in CFMA’s first-ever 40 Under 40 class with such an accomplished group of my peers,” said Pattison. “It is one of the best investments in myself – both professionally and personally – to be an active member of an industry-leading organization. CFMA has helped me develop confidence, leadership skills, and the opportunity to further my career serving the construction industry.”
This is the first year CFMA has run the 40 Under 40 program. The association collected nominations from its members, and a panel of judges reviewed and selected the honorees. Award winners range from CFOs at construction companies to finance professionals who serve the industry. Pattison is one of two members from CFMA’s Western Michigan chapter to make the final list. No other individuals from Michigan made the list.
